Leesburg Hosts Police Mountain Bike Training Course

From the Town of Leesburg, VA – The Town of Leesburg recently hosted the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy’s Police Mountain Bike basic training class.  Nineteen officers from Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Manassas Park, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Metro Transit Police, Loudoun County and the Town of Leesburg participated in the four-day class which took place during the last week of September.

Legacy Orthodontics Celebrates New Office Opening with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, October

From the Town of Leesburg, VA – At 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 9, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Legacy Orthodontics located at 705-C East Market Street in the Prosperity Center shopping center.  Mayor Umstattd will be officiating.

Legacy Orthodontics is the practice of Dr. Markus Niepraschk. A Virginia native, Dr. Niepraschk graduated first in his class from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and completed an additional two-year advanced educational program in the exclusive study of orthodontics at Marquette University.

Aiyara Thai Restaurant Celebrates First Anniversary on Tuesday, October 5, 2010

From the Town of Leesburg, VA – At 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Aiyara Thai Restaurant located at 5 Catoctin Circle SE, in celebration of their first anniversary.  Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will be officiating.

“Please come join the Sermbhongse Family -- Noom, Apple, and Aunty Goong -- as we serve you authentic Thai cuisine,” invited owner, Noom Sermbhongse.  “We use fresh, locally grown vegetables from the Leesburg Farmer’s Market, along with fresh herbs and spices from our gardens to flavor our dishes.”

The name Aiyara (i-ya-ra) in the Thai language means “elephant”, a very meaningful symbol for loyalty, friendliness, good fortune and happiness.  To thank the Leesburg community for their support and patronage during this first year, Aiyara Thai Restaurant will be offering a special discount of 50% off meals all day on October 5. 

Dolce Coffee House Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held on Saturday, October 2, 2010

From the Town of Leesburg, VA – At noon, on Saturday, October 2, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Dolce Coffee House located at 703 East Market Street, Suite J, in the Prosperity Center shopping plaza.  Vice Mayor Kevin Wright officiated.

Dolce Coffee House is independently owned and operated by Anthony and Ann Han.  Specializing in premium coffee and tea, Dolce Coffee House also offers delicious breakfast, light meals, freshly baked goods and free internet service.  Customers can enjoy either cozy indoor or spacious outdoor seating choices.

Armed Robbery of Athey's Getty Mart on Rt. 15 South of MD/VA Line

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has released a video of an armed robbery under investigation. The robbery took place this morning at 5:30 a.m. at Athey's Getty Mart, which is located at 13232 James Monroe Highway. Athey's Getty Mart is located on Route 15 immediately south of the Maryland/Viriginia line. 

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing black pants and a black jacket. His face was obscured with a ski hat and a t-shirt. The suspect fled in a 4-door car, possibly a silver Buick, north on Route 15 towards Maryland.
