Police Say Uncle Bought His Plane Ticket to Israel

FLINT, Mich. (AP) -- A prosecutor says police have searched the Flint house of the uncle of serial knife-slaying suspect Elias Abuelazam.

Authorities suspect Abuelazam of killing five men in and around Flint during a stabbing spree against 18 men and boys in Michigan; Toledo, Ohio; and Leesburg, Va.

He's jailed in Atlanta awaiting extradition to Michigan.

The Flint Journal says the search happened Wednesday. It says Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton wouldn't reveal what police were seeking.

The uncle bought a $3,000 ticket for Abuelazam to return to his native Israel. He was arrested at Atlanta's airport before boarding the international leg of the flight.

Leesburg Serial Killer Arrested

(Watch the WUSA9 live stream of the news conference at 2:00 p.m above)

FLINT, Mi. (WDIV/WUSA) -- Leesburg authorities confirm a person of interest in the series of stabbings that has terrorized communities in three states has been taken into custody.

Genesee County authorities told a media outlet in Detroit they have a man in custody in connection with the serial stabbing case.

Genesee County authorities will be holding a press conference Thursday morning.

Police believe the suspect worked at a party store in Beecher, located north of Flint. Officers checked surveillance video from the store to confirm the suspect previously worked at that store.

Authorities had over 500 tips from the public regarding the serial killer. One of those tips lead officers to the suspect from Beecher. Authorities were able to obtain search warrants and track the suspect electronically through several states.
