Leesburg Town Council Meeting with State Legislators, December 15, at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at 6:30 p.m., the Leesburg Town Council will hold a meeting with members of the Leesburg/Loudoun Delegation to present the Town's 2011 Legislative Agenda.  This meeting will be held in the Lower Level of the Leesburg Town Hall, at 25 West Market Street, Leesburg.

In addition to the members of the Leesburg Town Council, the following Virginia state legislators have been invited:

  • Senator Mark Herring (confirmed)
  • Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel (confirmed)
  • Delegate Joe May (confirmed)
  • Delegate Tag Greason (confirmed)
  • Delegate Tom Rust (invited)
  • Delegate Bob Marshall (invited)
  • Delegate Jim LeMunyon (invited)

Holiday Spending: Don't let it wipe you out.

The holiday season means entertaining guests, big meals, decorating and of course, gift buying.

Stores definitely play their part offering deals and discounts to attract everyone to their stores; all to get you to spend money you don’t intend to spend.

Despite the urge plan ahead and stick to a budget so you’re not still paying for this Christmas next Christmas. Here are a few tips to keep you on track:

1.) Leave the plastic at home

Resist the urge to use your credit card for purchases. It is more difficult to keep track of what you spent and that line of credit will only intensify your urge to buy, buy, buy. The worst part: the interest you will be paying on that purchase long after that present is unwrapped, used and pushed to the back of the closet.

From the Town of Leesburg – At 5:45 p.m., on Friday, December 10, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for The Cooley Gallery, located at 12 South King Street in Historic Downtown Leesburg.  Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will be officiating.

Owned and operated by Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley and his wife Christy, The Cooley Gallery will feature ceramics, painting, photography and artwork in various mediums.  Much of the work featured will be Chris’s own pottery and painting as well as the work of other local artists.

An art major at Utah State and 2004 draft pick of the Washington Redskins, Chris has kept his passion for painting and pottery alive.

From the Town of Leesburg – At 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Althea Medspa, located at 2 Cardinal Park Drive SE, Suite 103A.  Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will be officiating.

Althea Medspa owner Mira Indof called on her years of nursing experience when developing the variety of services offered, including laser aesthetics, Asian massage and far-infrared sauna.  Mira performs the laser procedures herself with the care and personal attention clients would expect from someone with a nursing background.  She has future plans to expand services to include chemical facial peels and Botox injections.

From the Town of Leesburg – At 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 4, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a joint ribbon cutting ceremony for Beauty at Meriem’s and Innovative Hair Studios, both located at 223 Loudoun Street SE in Historic Downtown Leesburg.  Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will be officiating.

Beauty at Meriem’s owner Meriem Lekmane has been a certified Master Esthetician for over 25 years. Operating from another Leesburg location for the past 8 years, Beauty at Meriem’s moved to 223 Loudoun Street SE in April.  Meriem’s services include facials, body treatments, eyelash extensions, chemical peels, pedicures, manicures, waxing, and professional make-up using all natural products. 

Loudoun County Searchest for the Greenest Company

Leesburg, Va., November 29, 2010 – The National Conference Center (NCC) received first place in the mid-sized business awards category and the Platinum Award from the Loudoun County Green Business Challenge for NCC’s dedication in maintaining an eco-friendly property.  The Platinum Award was the highest level awarded. With 917 guest rooms and more than 250 meeting rooms, NCC welcomes as many as 6,000 guests a month. As one of the largest conference centers in the nation, the team at NCC began their green efforts in the early 90’s to responsibly conserve water and energy at the facility.
