Two arrested in Leesburg stabbing


LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection to a non-fatal stabbing that took place in Leesburg, Va. on November 13.

According to the Leesburg Police Department, Josue Jeremias Cruz Gonzalez, 20, and Jose Roel Guevara Machado, 21, were arrested Wednesday in connection to a stabbing that took place at 75 Plaza Street which left a 20-year old male with multiple lacerations on his head, neck, and arm areas. 

Cruz Gonzalez has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and Guevara Machado has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, as well as stabbing in the commission of a felony.  

First woman of color elected to chair county board in Virginia


LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- Voters in Loudoun County made history Tuesday night by electing the first woman of color to a county board Chairman post in the state of Virginia. 

Phyllis Randall and Koran Saines are also the first African Americans elected to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in the county’s 257-year-old history.  

Randall beat longtime chairman Scott York for the county-wide chairman seat becoming the first woman of color county chairman not only in Loudoun, but in the entire state.

Randall said that a lot of people have paved the pathway for her and she’s humbled voters have given her the opportunity to serve.

“Ethics and transparency have been a key point in my campaign and I look forward to following through on that promise,” Randall said.

Fall is a time when millions of people around the country begin to make their travel plans.
