On the heels of judging the global 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France as one of two US judges in the Design category, Pum Lefebure, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Design Army, just released her first swimwear collection, Swim At Your Own Risk, in collaboration with Karla Colletto. A capsule collection for Colletto’s Cruise 2015 line and Lefebure’s first venture into fashion design, the five-piece graphic swimsuits and beachwear debuted at the Miami Swim Show on July 19th.

Spring is the perfect time for fitness endeavors and family outings. Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services is hosting three 5K races and fun run/walk events this spring! Participants of all ages can choose from the events listed below or sign up for all three!

Free Parking for the Holidays in Downtown Leesburg

Parking in the Town Hall parking garage and at all on-street parking meters will be free from Wednesday, November 27, 2013 through Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The Town of Leesburg will be offering free parking throughout the holiday season in the Town Hall parking garage and at on-street parking meters in the Historic Downtown.  The two-hour limit at on-street meters will remain in effect during the free holiday parking promotion.  Free parking will begin at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and will continue until 8:00am on Thursday, January 2, 2014.  The tradition of providing free holiday parking in downtown Leesburg began in 2005.

Leesburg Reminds Residents About Snow Emergency Routes and Snow Removal Policies

In preparation for the winter weather season, Town officials remind residents and businesses about Town policies for handling snow, sleet, ice and other wintry precipitation.

Snow Emergency Routes.  A snow emergency is declared when two or more inches of snow, sleet or other icy precipitation has accumulated on Town roadways.  When a snow emergency is in effect, all vehicles must be removed from streets designated as Snow Emergency Routes.  Any vehicle not removed from the designated streets when a snow emergency is in effect will be towed at the owner’s expense.  Snow Emergency Routes are:

  • Market Street, from Fairview Street to the Route 7/15 Bypass
  • King Street, from the Union Cemetery to Country Club Drive
  • Loudoun Street, from Liberty Street to Harrison Street

Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department Seeks Public Input on Current and Future Recreation Programs

The Town of Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department is conducting an online survey about the programs and classes offered by the Recreation Program.  The survey is open to everyone, although the Town requests that only one response per household be submitted. 

“We are looking to add new programs and tweak the existing ones,” explained Megan McLaughlin, the Town’s Recreation Program Supervisor.  “We want input from our current customers as well as residents who haven’t participated in our programs in the past for suggestions on programs and classes that would interest them.”

Leesburg and Virginia Regional Transit Celebrate New Bus Shelter

On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, Town of Leesburg and Virginia Regional Transit officials marked the completion of a new bus shelter with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The new shelter, which is the ninth bus shelter in Leesburg, is located in front of the Food Lion at 720 South King Street.

“Many of our residents need to use our bus system to get to and from their jobs,” commented Mayor Kristen Umstattd.  “For them, this new bus shelter is an especially important amenity.”

In her remarks, Mayor Umstattd also thanked Food Lion for allowing the bus shelter to be placed on their property.
