Whether you’re into tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop or theatre, Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) studios’ fall curriculum provides a variety of classes for all ages, with classes beginning on Mon., Sept. 8. Renowned for its holistic teaching approach, positive reinforcement style and world-class instructors, the studios offer beginner and advanced instruction at their Alexandria and Lorton, Va. locations. Classes include: ballet, Pointe, hip-hop, jazz, Irish dance, contemporary, combination classes of tap/ballet or jazz/tap; musical theater, acting, as well as piano and guitar lessons.

Monza of Old Town Manassas is hosting The Send Kids to Camp Campaign on Thurs., June 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Monza at 9405 Battle Street in Manassas, Va. to benefit Youth Leadership Prince William, a program geared toward teaching professional skills to emerging young leaders. Ana Davis, City of Manassas Utilities customer services manager and Tarek Aly, City of Manassas deputy director of utilities, completed phase one of an elite, one-year, public power manager certification program offered by the American Public Power Association (APPA). The initial class was in Myrtle Beach, SC with completed leadership projects due within a year. Davis and Aly will be the only City utilities employees to receive the certification. Charles Severance back in Leesburg court for hearing


LEESBURG, Va. (AP) - An Ashburn man wanted for questioning in the deaths of three Alexandria residents over the last decade is going back to a Loudoun County courtroom on an unrelated charge.

Fifty-three-year-old Charles Severance is charged with illegally possessing firearms despite a felony record. His lawyers, though, say the charge is a sham to hold Severance while Alexandria police continue to investigate the unsolved shootings there.

Alexandria Police have tried to question Severance but have declined to identify him as a suspect.

Metropolitan School of the Arts’ students, Anya Jones and Danielle Jones, both 10 years old,  were selected by Debbie Allen Dance Academy to perform in their Washington DC Company of Brothers of the Knight, playing Thurs., July 10 through Sun., July 13 at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. Ticket prices range from $35 to $75. The Brothers of the Knight dance performance was adapted from the book, Brother of the Knight, authored by Debbie Allen. Va. 21-year-old dead in shooting at home


LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- A twenty-one-year-old Va. man is dead after a domestic-related shooting that happened Saturday afternoon.

Deputies from Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Shadow Terrace in Leesburg, Va. around 2:45 p.m. Saturday for the report of two family members who were having a fight.

Authorities said the fight ended in gunfire.

The victim, a 21-year-old man from Leesburg, was taken to the hospital where he died, authorities said.
