Town Launches “Leesburg Biz Buzz” Webpage to Celebrate Accomplishments of Business Community

From the Town of Leesburg – The Town of Leesburg has launched a new webpage, Leesburg Biz Buzz, to help businesses share their accomplishments with the Town’s residents, businesses and visitors.  This webpage is the latest initiative of the Leesburg Economic Development Commission’s (EDC) Communications Task Force, aimed at spreading the message that Leesburg is a great place to do business.  The web address of the new page is www.leesburgva.gov/BizBuzz.  

Leesburg Recycling & Yard Waste Collection Schedule Unchanged for Veterans Day

From the Town of Leesburg:

Leesburg, VA (November 8, 2010) – Recycling and yard waste collection in the Town of Leesburg will not be affected by the Veterans Day holiday on Thursday, November 11, 2010.

On Thursday, November 11, 2010, residential customers in the Southwest and Southeast Quadrants of Town, including South King Street and West Market Street, will have recycling and yard waste collected. Trash and recycling will be collected for curbside commercial customers on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Customers are requested to place their recycling and yard waste at the curb after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, and before 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11.

As a reminder, the Leesburg Town Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2010 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

Leesburg Town Council Changes November 2010 Meeting Dates to Accommodate Thanksgiving Holidays

From the Town of Leesburg – The Leesburg Town Council work session and regular business meeting, normally scheduled for Monday, November 22, 2010, and Tuesday, November 23, 2010, have been moved to Monday, November 29, 2010, and Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The meeting place and time will remain unchanged. The meetings will be held in the Town Council Chambers on the second floor of the Leesburg Town Hall, 25 West Market Street, and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The agenda for the November 29 & 30 Town Council meetings will be posted on the Town’s website (www.leesburgva.gov/index.aspx?page=54) not later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010.

Anyone requiring special accommodations for these meeting should contact the Clerk of Council at 703-771-2733, at least three (3) days in advance on the meeting. For TTY/TDD service, use the Virginia Relay Center by dialing 711.

Five Leesburg Businesses Among Winners of Loudoun Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Small Business Awards

From the Town of Leesburg – Five Leesburg businesses are among nine award winners at the 2010 Loudoun Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Small Business Awards on Thursday, November 4, 2010.

The Loudoun Chamber Small Business Awards honor the best of Loudoun’s small businesses in nine award categories.  The night’s top honor of Small Business of the Year was awarded to Omnilert, LLC.  Omnilert was the recipient of the 2009 Technology Business of the Year Award from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.  The other Leesburg winners were:

Town Issues Reminder to Citizens about Snow Emergency Routes & Snow Removal Policies

From the Town of Leesburg – In preparation for the winter weather season, Town officials remind residents and businesses about Town policies for dealing with snow, sleet, ice and other wintry precipitation.

Snow Emergency Routes.  A snow emergency is declared when two or more inches of snow, sleet or other icy precipitation has accumulated on Town roadways.  When a snow emergency is in effect, all vehicles must be removed from the designated streets.  Any vehicle not removed from the designated streets when a snow emergency is in effect will be towed at the owner’s expense.  Snow emergency routes are:

Help Local Brain Tumor Charity Win National Philanthropy Honor

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- Oh My GOFF! Angie Goff reports that local charity the Brad Kaminsky Foundation is up for a national philanthropy top honor. 

As we embark on the season of giving, a crowd gathered at Panera Bread in Leesburg to support the Brad Kaminsky Foundation.

Founded by Lisa Millar, who lost her brother to a brain tumor, the charity is one of eight non-profits nominated for the national title of 'Charity of the Year' sponsored by stayclassy.org.
