Town Seeks Nominations for 2011 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Awards

From the Town of Leesburg:

The Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission is seeking nominations for the 2011 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Awards. This award program recognizes students, community groups, and individuals who conduct or participate in activities that benefit the Town’s environment. Nominations must be submitted by close of business on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

Examples of activities that benefit the Town’s environment include:

Local Singer-Songwriter Todd Wright Receives Five Wammie Nominations

From the Town of Leesburg – Leesburg singer-songwriter Todd Wright has been nominated for five 2010 Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) awards, or Wammies.  Established in 1985, the Wammies are the Mid-Atlantic's highest musical honors and are recognized nationally as major music trophies.  The 25th Annual Wammies will be presented on February 20, 2011 at the historic State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia.

Todd Wright has been nominated for Songwriter of the Year, Producer of the Year, Pop Vocalist of the Year, Musician of the Year and the pinnacle prize, Artist of the Year.

Loudoun County Zoning Administrator Dan Schardein Resigns

From the County of Loudoun:

Loudoun County Zoning Administrator Dan J. Schardein has announced that he is resigning from his position. Citing family reasons, Schardein submitted his resignation effective the end of February 2011.

Schardein came to Loudoun County in February 2009 from Stafford County where he had worked for more than 20 years in the areas of zoning and economic development. As Loudoun County’s Zoning Administrator, Schardein administered and enforced the county’s Zoning Ordinance, and headed the Zoning Administration division within the Department of Building and Development.
