Family Math Night on Jan. 25

From Loudoun County Public Schools:

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) will hold Family Math Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25th, at the LCPS Administrative Offices in Ashburn.

This free event will feature games and math strategies parents can use with their students at home. There will be a technology room where LCPS staff will demonstrate free math websites that parents can use.

There will be take-home games for parents and door prizes.

16 Patriots Honored at Excellence Banquet

The 249 students honored at the banquet are members of the Class of 2012 from Loudoun County’s 12 high schools and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology who ranked in the top 5 percent of their class academically during the first three years of their high school career or who have been named National Merit Scholarship, National Achievement Scholarship or National Hispanic Scholarship semifinalists.

Through the 29 years the Excellence in Education Banquet has honored Loudoun County’s best students, 3,643 students have been recognized.

Join the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for the sweet sensation of decorating trees at its 5th annual tree-trimming celebration. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Holidays on Candy Lane”. Students from the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland will deck Reagan National and Dulles International trees with theme-related ornaments. The trees will be on display for passengers and visitors to enjoy throughout the month of December.

Ashburn, VA - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Broad Run High School students are holding their annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to create awareness among students and the community.  The weeklong campaign culminates on Friday, October 14, 2011 with the Broad Run Spartans taking to the home football field with Osbourn High School.  The community is invited to come out for some family fun, school spirit, and a great cause!
